Evolution Is a One Night Stand That Stays Forever

Shadows can’t dance without a little light

and if you never tasted salty tears

you’d never deeply enjoy dark chocolate

like the depth of this shadow gives light to such bright ideas

free to think time may be money

when you make both by the clock

free to see how those rich in money flaunt it

like a gaggle of high school girls giggle

at the old lady’s baggage

and in the halls of high school

where everything’s ironic, sarcasm reads sincere.

And all the experience in the world can’t replicate youth

and mountains get worn down to beachfront property

that gets washed out to sea

as shadows snake through sand

as the moon spins waves crash landing on the shore

leaving nothing but sodium stains

high tide marking its territory

then receding back into the deep.

Betty! I got one more to tide you over, then I gotta give up the puns, they’re worse than smoking. I am now untide from the tide of puns drowning me going both ways like my rinse cycle washing my words in Tide. Are you still reading? I don’t mean to have tide you down, let’s call it a game and say we tide. Unless this is a game of ping pong that allows no game to be tide. Then it’s your serve.

I agree, Peter – I think we have tide this up with a neat little bow and can now move on. πŸ™‚ (The world is a punny place, though… don’t be surprised if we stumble into another someday.)

The ebb and flow of life does go on, even those ironical high school snickers wafting up and down the hallways strewn with missed cues! Your images always have me jumping mentally through hoops to keep up, dear Peter. Thanks for the exercise! Whew!

Rose! I am happy to play metaphor coach to you here, as you lead us all on your site. Like Ferris Bueller famously said: ‘Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around you might miss it.’ I’m trying to write fast to keep up with the life spinning around us.
