When You’re Across the Ocean

You’re in me

echoing in the hollows of my heart

like the sound of the sea

in a sea shell.

Fertile rains fell

knocking up Mother Earth

giving birth to you and me

the sound of we

till the breaking of the tide and time

by the deep breaths of the sea

and every grain of sand stands between you and me

like the salt between the thirsty and drinking the sea

looking at a photo of you now

the view is how those dying of thirst see

the sea.
