Getting to First Base

Life happens while you are running to first base:

the only thing you can control after you’ve made contact

with the ball

is how fast you run down the first baseline;

what the fielders do with your batted ball is up to them.

Fate picks up a firstbaseman’s trapper

and you’re running your heart out

hoping Fate drops the ball.

    I love baseball, and I love the parallel you’ve managed to find between life and getting to first base!
